Two cheetahs rest together, yet neither has surrendered her watchfulness. There is tenderness between them, but also strength. One looks towards the distance while the other faces us directly — as though one is watching the road ahead and the other is guarding what they already have.

Around them, the landscape has almost disappeared into colour. Deep blues and turquoise meet flashes of green, orange and light, creating a world that feels less like a physical place and more like an emotion.

The cheetah is known for speed, but this painting feels to me as though it is about something quieter. Companionship.

There are moments in life when we need to run alone — to trust our instincts and follow our own path. But there are also moments when simply having someone beside us gives us the courage to face what lies ahead.

They do not need to look in the same direction to belong together. They do not need to follow the same path to remain connected.

Perhaps that is the beautiful lesson they carry: True companionship gives us the freedom to be ourselves, while knowing we are never completely alone. Side by side, we become stronger.
