There is a stillness in the African landscape that is never truly silent. He walks through it slowly — elegant, watchful and completely at home. The pale sky seems to dissolve around him, while earth, shadow and gold move beneath his feet.

The Secretary Bird does not need to dominate the landscape. He simply belongs to it. His bright eye is the only sudden flame — a small spark of courage and awareness amongst the soft greys, creams and ancient earth colours.

Behind him, the landscape becomes almost a memory. In front of him, there is no visible destination. He is simply moving forward.

Keeper of the Quiet is about that kind of strength. The strength that does not announce itself. The confidence that does not need attention. The courage to walk your own path, even when you cannot yet see where it leads.

And perhaps that is why he seems to emerge from the painting only after you have looked for a while. He was always there. Waiting quietly to be discovered.

“Born to Stand Tall.” — elegant, proud, assured of her place within it.
