There is a place where the earth no longer knows where it ends, and the sky no longer knows where it begins. A place between reality and memory.
In this painting, I see distant mountains rising through mist, deep blue water moving below, and soft light breaking through an uncertain horizon. But nothing is completely defined. The landscape is allowed to become whatever the viewer discovers within it.
Perhaps it is a place we have visited. Perhaps it is somewhere we still dream of going.
The deep blues carry a sense of mystery and depth, while the soft whites, greens and warm earth colours seem to float above them like fragments of memory. Darkness and light meet in the centre, but neither one wins. They simply belong together.
I like to think that some of the most beautiful moments in our lives happen in these in-between places—between certainty and possibility, between what we know and what we imagine. We do not always need to understand everything we see. Sometimes we can simply stand quietly before it and allow ourselves to feel.
And somewhere, where the earth meets the sky, we may discover a landscape that has been waiting inside us all along.
