We carry so much beneath the surface. Some emotions arrive quietly, like a change in the light. Others rise suddenly and become a wave—too powerful to hold back, demanding to be felt.

Emotions is about that movement within us. The deep blue sweeps through the painting with strength and intensity. It rises, folds and falls, while softer colours—pale pink, turquoise, green and touches of earth—move around it like quieter thoughts.

Nothing stays still. One feeling flows into another. Joy can live beside sadness. Calm can exist beside fear. Strength can grow from vulnerability. And sometimes darkness makes us more aware of the light.

I did not want to give these emotions names or boundaries. I wanted the paint to move as emotions do—freely, unpredictably, sometimes gently and sometimes with enormous force. There are moments when we try to control what we feel. But perhaps emotions are not always meant to be controlled. Perhaps they are meant to move through us. Like water. They rise. They break. They soften. And eventually, they find their way back to stillness.

Emotions are the tides within us.
